South Korea continues to harness blockchain technology to create unique applications. As soon as 2024, South Korean citizens will be able to use blockchain-based digital identification instead of physical cards.
The government has a plan to embed digital IDs within an app on mobile devices in the future. Reportedly, the digital IDs could be used in finance, healthcare, taxes, and transportation too.
The blockchain-based digital ID system is set to be launched in 2024, and around 45 million citizens are expected to adopt it within two years.
